Innervation of 3D Printed Biological Machines

We report the development of a skeletal muscle powered biological machine (?bio-bot?) capable of biomimetic and directional locomotion, as well as a method for attachment of motor neuron-containing embryoid for neuromuscular junction formation. This demonstration aids in the realization of forward-engineered integrated cellular machines and systems, which can have myriad applications in drug screening and delivery, as well as programmable tissue engineering.
