The Axonal Spatial-Temporal Reactive Assembly (astra)

An emerging intersection of the neuroengineering of nerve fiber (axon) tracts/bundles and communications networks is described. At the intersection is the Axonal Spatial-Temporal Reactive Assembly (ASTRA), a software model describing nerve fiber interaction as a massive biological multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. Experiments with ASTRA are envisioned to lead to novel biosensors, advanced network topologies, and seamless neural implants for a variety of small envelope, high capacity applications.
