Determining the needs of family physicians for point of care tests (POCTs) is essential in order to prioritize research and development efforts and optimize successful implementation. We report results from an evaluation of barriers and facilitators to use of POCT in family practice clinics. 40 Family Physicians from 3 different types of clinics identified a broad range of POCT needs, prioritizing diabetes, renal/electrolyte disorders, respiratory infections and STIs.
