Activity Monitoring for Point-of-Care using Internet-of-Things Sensing + Cloud Analytics

Bodine, Cathy ;   Wolf, Marilyn

Activity monitoring is an important tool to facilitate point-of-care monitoring. First, tasks can be identified and placed in context of patterns of activity. Second, we can ensure patients maintain their normal activities and identify unusual activity (or lack of activity) for follow-up; while maintaining privacy and security. Cyber-physical systems, Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology, and Big Data offer the promise of transformative changes to health care services by providing specific data analytics creating actionable information for health care providers.
